Change betting password: steps for a strong new one
Open your account or security settings, choose change password, enter the current one and a new one twice, then save. Pick a long, unique password, ideally from a password manager, and log out of devices you no longer use.
To change betting password details while you are still logged in, you only need a minute and your current password. Do it straight away after any suspicious activity, and choose a password you have never used anywhere else.
Steps to change betting password
- Log in and open the account, profile or security settings.
- Choose the change password option.
- Enter your current password, then the new one twice.
- Confirm any code that is sent to your phone or email.
- Log out of other devices if the site offers the option.
If you cannot log in at all, use the password reset link on the login page instead, which sends a code or link to your email or phone.
What makes a strong password
Aim for 12 characters or more, such as three or four random words, which are long and still easy to remember. Make it unique, never reused from your email, bank or another bookmaker, because reused passwords are how one breach becomes many. Store it in a password manager instead of a note on your phone. If the site rejects the new password, it may be too short, too similar to the old one or a password that has leaked before, so try a longer phrase of random words.
After you change it
Update the entry in your password manager so it does not keep filling in the old one, and look for a confirmation email, which is your sign that the change went through. Some sites log you out of other devices and others do not, so look for a log out other devices option in your security settings and use it for any device you no longer use. If the change followed suspicious activity, check your transaction history and your contact details for anything you did not do. For extra protection, add two-factor authentication.
