Bet rejected: why it happens and how to fix it
A bet is rejected when the price moved, the market was suspended, your stake was above the limit, your balance was too low, the event had started or a free bet condition was not met. Refresh the betslip, check the new odds, adjust the stake and try again.
A bet rejected message means the operator did not accept your bet, so no money was staked. The reason is usually shown on the betslip and is quick to fix.
Common causes of a bet rejected message
- Price changed: the odds moved after you added the selection.
- Market suspended: the event paused, for example after a goal or a decision review.
- Stake too high: you went over the maximum for that market.
- Low balance: your cash or free bet balance did not cover the stake.
- Event started: pre-match bets close when the event begins.
A free bet condition, such as the minimum odds, can also reject a bet, and so can an account restriction.
What to do
Read the message on the betslip and check the new price, then refresh and re-add the selection. Lower the stake or top up your balance if that was the cause, but only to the amount you had planned, and do not raise the stake to make up for a missed price. Check your open bets before you try again so that you do not stake twice. Be careful with automatic acceptance of odds changes, because it can place a bet at a lower price than you saw.
In-play bets and delays
In-play bets can be delayed or declined while the operator checks that the price is still valid. A short delay is normal, and a longer delay can mean the market is repricing. Wait for the result before you tap again, because a second attempt can turn into a second bet. A bet rejected during a fast moment of the game is the system protecting both sides from a stale price, and a few seconds later the same bet may be accepted at a new price.
