Published:The highly anticipated Leagues Cup 2026 has arrived, bringing a thrilling month of soccer as Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX clubs compete for North American bragging rights. This year’s streamlined 36-team tournament features massive international star power, new venue regulations, and highly competitive matchups.
Below, we highlight the outright favourites, showcase key teams to watch, and break down the complete tournament schedule and structure.
Bet365 Outright Favourites & Featured Clubs
For Canadian soccer fans keeping an eye on the tournament, MLS clubs have traditionally dominated this competition, with the last three finals contested exclusively by teams from the United States. However, this year’s odds suggest a Canadian side could be poised to make history.
Key Contenders
Inter Miami CF (+700)
Boasting unmatched star power with legendary playmaker Lionel Messi and newly signed Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, Inter Miami CF enters the tournament as a front-runner. After falling 3-0 to Seattle in last year’s final, the 2023 champions are highly motivated to reclaim the crown with their star-studded squad.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC (+800)
Vancouver has been the most dominant MLS club this season, leading the Western Conference with only three defeats in 17 matches. Under manager Jesper Sørensen, they boast incredible underlying metrics, generating a league-high 41.5 Expected Goals. Spearheaded by German legend Thomas Müller, the clinical Whitecaps are Canada’s premier hope for continental glory.
Seattle Sounders FC (+1600)
The defending champions made history last season by beating Inter Miami CF 3-0 to become the first club to secure all five major North American soccer trophies. Led by midfielder Cristian Roldan, Seattle begins their title defence with a challenging away opener in Mexico against Toluca.
Orlando City SC (+5000)
Orlando City is a dangerous longshot to watch, having finished fourth in last season’s tournament. While their early domestic form was slow, the addition of French superstar Antoine Griezmann has completely revitalised their offence, with the team scoring four goals in five of their last ten matches.

The sixth edition of the tournament brings together 36 teams—all 18 Liga MX clubs and the top 18 MLS clubs qualifying from the 2025 season.
- Exclusive Inter-League Play: During Phase One, clubs play three matches strictly against opponents from the opposite league (no MLS-vs-MLS or Liga MX-vs-Liga MX matchups).
- No Tied Matches: If a match is level after 90 minutes, it proceeds directly to a penalty shootout.
- Point System: Teams earn 3 points for a regulation victory, 2 points for a penalty shootout win, and 1 point for a penalty shootout loss.
- Knockout Stage: Only the top four teams from each league’s respective table advance to the single-elimination knockout rounds.
- Games in Mexico: For the first time in Leagues Cup history, four matches will be hosted in Mexico at Liga MX stadiums rather than entirely in Canada and the United States.
Qualification & Prizes
- Champions Cup Berths: The top three teams earn qualification for the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup, with the Leagues Cup winner securing a direct bye to the Round of 16.
- Prize Pool: Out of a total $40 million prize purse, the tournament champion takes home roughly $2 million.
