Published:When you hit a Place Bet at a Canadian online casino, leaving the exact same wager on the table is not your only move. In fact, knowing what to do with that payout is how you squeeze real value out of a hot shooter. The idea is called pressing – one of the strategy pieces in our craps section. Instead of pocketing the whole win, you roll some or all of that profit right back onto the felt.
It is a smart way to scale up during a good run without dipping any further into your own wallet. You are simply taking house money and letting it ride.
How Different Pressing Techniques Work
Digital tables make chip adjustments quick, so you can change your aggression level on the fly based on how the session is going:
- Full Press: You put 100% of your win right back on that number. Say you have $30 on the 8 and it rolls. It pays out $35 in Canadian funds. A true full press bumps your active bet up to $65. On most tables, players round that to $60 to keep standard $6 units and pocket the spare $5.
- One-Unit Press: The cautious route. You bump the bet up by just one single betting unit after a hit. Take a $12 Place Bet on the 6 that pays $14. You add $6 to push the bet to $18, then stash the remaining $8 profit right into your rack.
- Double-Unit Press: A solid middle ground. You jump two full units at once. Moving a $6 bet on the 6 straight to $12 or $18 after a win speeds up your payouts while still letting you peel off a little profit along the way.
- Power Press: The heavy approach. You take your entire win, throw in a little extra cash from your chip rack, and skip a bracket or two immediately.
Essential Unit Rules for Pressing
If you press your bets online, you cannot just pick random chip amounts. You have to respect the betting units for each number group so you do not lose money to rounding cuts:
- 6 and 8: These pay 7:6. Always bet them in multiples of $6 CAD. When you press, keep the new total in steps of $6 so you get the full mathematical return every time.
- 5 and 9: These pay 7:5 and must be wagered in multiples of $5 CAD.
- 4 and 10: These pay 9:5 and also move in $5 CAD units.
The beauty of Place Bets is that they are not contract bets. You can drop them down (regress) or pull them completely off the board whenever you want during the Intermediate Roll, long before a 7 shows up. A common tactic on Canadian sites is to press aggressively across the first two hits, build up a sizable wager with the casino’s money, and then regress back down to your opening bet. That way, you lock in a guaranteed profit for the roll no matter what the dice do next.
