Here are my longbets for the 2026/27 Scottish Premiership season.

First off, it’s hard to see Hearts matching last season’s success, when they came agonisingly close to the title. All they needed was to hold on to a 1–1 draw against Celtic in Glasgow for just over ten minutes, but they conceded late, losing both the match and the trophy.

Some players left, others arrived, but Derek McInnes, the manager, will likely be the biggest miss, having taken over at Rangers. So looking at Hearts – who were over 100/1 to win the league last season and are now priced at 7/1 – it’s just not something I can back.

McInnes gave Hearts the best defensive record in 2025/26, conceding only 34 goals (28 before the split). That defense was the key to finishing just two points behind Celtic. Rangers, on the other hand, had the best attack in the league last term.

There’s an intriguing price of 10/1 in Bet365’s Season Handicap – Winner market for Rangers +4. This means the bet wins as long as Rangers total the highest number of points once the +4 advantage is added.

The current handicaps are: Celtic +0, Rangers +4, Hearts +10, Hibernian +23, Aberdeen +27, Motherwell +31, Dundee Utd +37, Falkirk +39, Kilmarnock +40, Dundee +44, St Mirren +45, St Johnstone +45.

Based purely on last season’s numbers, the best value would be Motherwell +31 (they finished on 61 points, which would put them on 92). However, Motherwell lost key players and their Danish manager, Jens Askou, who left for Toulouse.

Dundee United kept manager Jim Goodwin, who has been in charge for over three years. They finished the first phase on 40 points last season, down from 50 in 2024/25, which points to a drop in performance.

My pick in this market, though, is Falkirk. They won the Championship in 24/25, finished sixth in 2025/26 with 46 points, and kept their 64-year-old manager, John McGlynn. Falkirk get a +39 handicap at 10/1, and that’s where I’m putting €10.

I’m backing Falkirk to keep improving, so my second bet- also on Bet365 – is Falkirk to finish in the Top 6 at 11/4 (3.75).

Finally, my pick to finish bottom is Dundee at 9/2 with William Hill. They leaked goals at home last season, conceding 26 in 16 games before the split, and their xG metrics – both home and away – were poor during the Relegation Group stage.

My bets:

  • Season Handicap Winner: Falkirk +39 (at 10/1 odds on Bet365, with a €10 stake).
  • Top Finish: Falkirk to finish in the Top 6 (at 3.75 / 11/4 odds on Bet365, with a €10 stake).
  • To Finish Bottom: Dundee (at 9/2 odds with William Hill, with a €10 stake).
