Online Baccarat Guides for US Players
In baccarat you bet on which of two hands, the Player or the Banker, will finish closer to 9, or on a Tie. Every card is dealt and every drawing decision is made automatically by fixed rules, so your only choices are the bet and the stake. This hub brings together every BoldGambler guide on online baccarat for US players: how to play, every bet and payout, the third card rule, and the online formats and variants.
Real-money online baccarat is available only through state-licensed casinos, so this page also shows where it is legal and what to check before you play.

Baccarat Bets at a Glance
Which bet you place matters more than how you play, because every bet carries a different house edge. This table shows the payout, the house edge and the Return to Player (RTP) for each bet in a standard eight-deck game.
| Bet | Payout | House Edge | Return to Player (RTP) |
| Banker | 19:20 (1:1 minus 5% commission) | 1.06% | 98.94% |
| Player | 1:1 | 1.24% | 98.76% |
| Player Pair or Banker Pair | 11:1 | 10.36% | 89.64% |
| Tie | 8:1 | 14.36% | 85.64% |
The Banker bet is the cheapest and the Tie bet the most expensive, even though the Tie’s 8:1 payout looks generous. Our baccarat bets, payouts and house edge guide explains where each figure comes from, including the commission and the pair bets.
Where Online Baccarat Is Legal in the US
Real-money online casino gaming is legalized state by state. As of September 2026, state-regulated online casinos are live in these seven states:
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Michigan
- New Jersey
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- West Virginia
Maine legalized online casino gaming in January 2026 through its tribal nations, but as of early September 2026 no licensed online casino had launched there. Nevada permits online poker, not online casino games.
Players generally must be 21 or older, and licensed operators use geolocation to confirm that you are inside the state while you play. Outside these states there is no state-licensed real-money online baccarat, and offshore or sweepstakes sites are not a substitute for state regulation. Laws change as new states act, so check your state regulator’s current rules before you deposit.

Play Responsibly
Baccarat is paid entertainment with a built-in house edge, not a way to make money. Set a deposit limit and a time limit before you start, and stop when you reach them. Licensed US casinos offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion, and our responsible gambling page explains how to use them.
If gambling stops being fun, call 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738) or text 800GAM to reach the National Problem Gambling Helpline. It is free, confidential and open 24/7.
