Last updated:

This policy explains how Bold Gambler processes personal data for visitors to boldgambler.com/uk, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

1. Who we are

Bold Gambler is a sports betting content, review, and comparison network, also operating in Brazil, Argentina, Canada, and the United States. We are not a licensed gambling operator. We don’t take bets, hold customer funds, process deposits or withdrawals, or carry out identity verification — those activities are carried out solely by the UK Gambling Commission-licensed operators we link to.

2. What data we collect

Provided by you: name and email address when you contact us, subscribe to our newsletter, or comment on an article.

Collected automatically: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and cookie data.

3. Cookies (PECR)

PECR requires strict opt-in for anything beyond strictly necessary cookies. Nothing beyond essential cookies loads until you actively accept them in the banner shown on your first visit — analytics and advertising cookies are off by default. You can accept, reject, or change your choice at any time via Cookie Preferences. For the full list of cookies we use, see our Cookie Policy.

4. Our lawful basis for processing (Article 6, UK GDPR)

  • Consent — newsletter sign-up, advertising cookies, marketing communications;
  • Legitimate interests — site security, fraud prevention, and understanding how the site is used, balanced against your right to privacy;
  • Legal obligation — responding to UK authorities where required by law.

5. Who we share data with

We don’t sell personal data. We share only what’s necessary with the providers that run the site: hosting (Hostinger), security and CDN (Cloudflare), and analytics/advertising (Google Analytics, Google Ads).

6. International transfers

Some providers (Google, Cloudflare) process data outside the UK, including in the United States, which does not have blanket UK adequacy. Where this happens, we rely on providers using the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or equivalent Standard Contractual Clauses to keep your data protected to UK standards.

7. Retention

We retain contact and comment data while the related content remains live, and newsletter data until you unsubscribe.

8. Security

Site-wide HTTPS, Cloudflare protection against attacks, and restricted access to administrative systems.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Have inaccurate data corrected;
  • Request erasure (“the right to be forgotten”);
  • Restrict or object to processing;
  • Request portability of your data;
  • Withdraw consent at any time, with no effect on processing carried out before withdrawal.

To exercise these rights, use the contact details in section 12. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Given the size of our business, we haven’t appointed a statutory Data Protection Officer — UK GDPR doesn’t require one at this scale — but the contact below handles all data protection matters.

10. Responsible gambling and minimum age

This site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. Gambling should be fun, not a way to make money, and it carries financial risk. If it’s stopped being fun, GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133, free and confidential, 24/7) offer support, and GAMSTOP lets you self-exclude from all UK-licensed online gambling sites at once.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
