Brazil dominated from the very first whistle, ruthlessly punishing Scotland&#8217;s simple defensive errors. Vin\u00edcius J\u00fanior scored twice, and Matheus Cunha added a third. The Scots gave the ball away far too easily and offered very little going forward, looking completely toothless against the South American giants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Group C Standings and What&#8217;s Next<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a narrow win against Haiti and back-to-back defeats against Morocco and Brazil, Scotland finish Group C with just three points and a highly damaging -3 goal difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Scenario:<\/strong> To reach the knockout stages as one of the best third-placed teams, Scotland now need an absolute miracle across the remaining group games over the coming days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Potential Fixture:<\/strong> If results somehow go their way, they will face Mexico at the famous Azteca Stadium next Thursday, 01 July.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the touchline, manager Steve Clarke looked entirely out of ideas. While the travelling Tartan Army have enjoyed an unforgettable trip to the United States, the team\u2019s lack of ambition on the pitch is becoming a frustratingly familiar story. Once again, Scotland look set to pack their bags early, leaving fans wondering when simply &#8220;being there for the sing-song&#8221; will finally stop being enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-my-bet-for-scotland-vs-brazil\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">My bet for Scotland vs Brazil<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are plenty of bets and many different contexts we can apply when placing a wager. A good starting point is trying to envision how the teams will behave, and here things seem pretty clear: Scotland are playing for a draw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brazil will rest a few players. Alisson is the first to be confirmed, and Neymar will most likely play. However, as Neymar is returning from injury, he\u2019ll get limited minutes and I don\u2019t expect much from him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another context to add is that Brazil don&#8217;t necessarily need to win by a landslide or anything like that. There is no easy path for Brazil in the World Cup knockout stages: it could be the Netherlands (leaders), Japan (runners-up), or Germany (third place) \u2013 that\u2019s how things stand at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One point will take the Scots through to the next round; finishing the group stage with four points will very likely be enough to qualify among the best third-placed teams. So, I expect them not to try any funny business against Brazil and focus entirely on marking and slowing the game down. Besides, judging by their recent performances, it\u2019s highly unlikely they\u2019ll have any offensive success: 1.0 xGF against a weak Haiti side and just 0.53 xGF against Morocco, a match in which they sat entirely behind the ball from the very start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scotland have seen four 1-0 results in their 2026 fixtures. They are a team that find it incredibly hard to chase the game after going behind, and they really struggle against decent national sides. This was evident in the Euros two years ago, where all three of their group stage matches ended with the team producing below 0.70 xGF \u2013 and in two of them, it was under 0.15 xGF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I\u2019m not expecting goals, at least not from the Scottish side.
